Armorgeddon

Armorgeddonis a 2D endless action platformer. The player must defend their castle from meteors raining down upon them. It was made as exam project in 2D game development over 2 weeks.

Since the core game mechanic of hitting away meteors is very simple, we wanted nail the tone and identity of the game and the world. We attempted to achieve this by designing a recognizable character “Sir Chad Thundercock III“, soundtrack and art style. To further emphasize the silliness of the game, we included puppet-like NPC’s and lots of toilet humor. This project was therefore are greater challenge design-wise.

You can watch a trailer (as silly as the game itself) below.

Key takeaways

In hindsight since this project was the first exam project, the scripting and systems are not very complicated, but they did help build some foundational knowledge, on which the rest of my projects were built.

Aside from somewhat basic systems, the game has a very concise and humoristic identity which I am proud of.

In due time, I would like to return to this project with fresh eyes and a larger vocabulary, since I feel like we built a solid foundation to build something larger on. Returning to project, I would want to overhaul the meteor spawn system and the progressive difficulty, introduce some power-ups, and juice up the UI and camera some more.
